ABOUT US
I4YPCAMBS

We’re uniting local people to take action, drive change, and shape a better future for Cambridgeshire.

About Us.

We’re councillors and local residents coming together to build a new kind of politics, one that puts people and communities first. Inspired by the launch of Your Party by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, we share a simple belief: politics should be about hope, fairness, and the power of ordinary people to shape their own future.

With local elections fast approaching in May 2026, we know change at the local level can’t wait.
That’s why we’ve formed Independents for Your Party Cambridgeshire — a local movement working now to elect community-first councillors who share Your Party’s principles.

As Your Party develops nationally, we’re standing as independents this cycle to ensure our communities already have a strong voice in local government. Once the party is fully established, we’ll join and strengthen the wider movement for change.

Our mission is simple — to work hand in hand with local communities to create policies and plans that meet real needs, from decent housing and transport to green spaces and good jobs.

We’re organising, campaigning, and standing alongside local people to bring meaningful change across our region.

In May 2026, we’ll take that message to the ballot box — standing candidates in key council elections to give our communities a stronger voice and a real choice.

WHAT WE STAND FOR.

At Your Party, we’re driven by a commitment to justice, equality, and solidarity. We believe in building a society that works for everyone—not just the privileged few.

Our core principles guide us to challenge injustice, protect essential services, and fight for a sustainable and inclusive future. This section lays out the values that shape our vision and the bold changes we’re ready to make. Together, we can create lasting change rooted in fairness and hope.

JOIN OUR CAMBS MOVEMENT!

Together, we can create the Cambridgeshire we want to see.

LOCAL ELECTIONS.

Across our region, from Cambridge City to Peterborough, from South Cambs district to Huntingdonshire, local councillors will be elected next May. We aim to stand candidates in these elections, giving communities a real choice and a stronger voice in shaping local decisions.

Why do local elections matter?

Local councillors are the backbone of our communities. They live and work where we do, understand the challenges people face, and know what is needed to improve everyday life. They speak up for residents, campaign tirelessly, and work to secure the funding and support from the government needed to deliver real results. From housing and schools to transport, health services, and green spaces, councillors can make a real difference — shaping the places we live and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.

Councils also take important decisions that affect:

  • Schools

  • Transport

  • Housing

  • Environment

  • Development

Independents 4 Your Party Cambs is committed to getting councillors elected who will stand up for your community on all these issues.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS.

We listen to our members and citizens. It is built into our constitution to ensure democracy from the ground up.

Your ideas, concerns, and priorities shape our policies and the actions we take. By putting communities at the heart of everything we do, we make sure everyone has a real voice in the decisions that affect their lives. We do this by:

Roles

Every member has the power to shape our leadership. Officers — including a chair, secretary, treasurer, and organisers for campaigns, industrial issues, and press and communications — are elected at regular meetings. They carry out members’ decisions, report back, and remain accountable. Every officer is up for election every three months, giving all members the chance to contribute.

Meetings

Every member has the right to take part in our meetings. They are open to all members and always include remote access for those unable to attend in person. We meet at least once a month — currently Mondays at 7.30pm — and more often if needed. Decisions are made by vote and communicated within 48 hours.

Agendas

Every member has the right to shape what we discuss. You can submit items or motions for meetings via our dedicated email, asking members to debate and decide on any matter. Our organisation is member-led and member-controlled at every level, so your voice truly matters in shaping our vision and direction.
